There is a limit (a high limit of course!) to the amount of product you can personally retail and therefore the money you can earn on your own. It is also more fun if you have people to work with.

If you wish to develop a larger income it makes sense to look at becoming a leader and building a team.

The easiest and cheapest way to find distributors is to convert customers or hosts, but you may also wish to consider other recruiting methods.

Online Advertising

One great, and often free, way to advertise is on the many classfied ad websites on the internet, they are changing all the time, with new ones springing up, but a quite way to find them is simply to do a Google search for "free classified ads". On these sites you will also find many other direct sales / networkers in other companies who you may like to offer the FM opportunity to as well! Many of the most successful people in FM began with FM as something to offer those who wanted a lower priced starter business than something else they were doing, and then found out that FM worked far better for them than the other business.

Don't worry about the fact that most networkers you pitch will not reply to you, that is normal, some may even email you back saying they didn't appreciate you pitching them, that doesn't matter, it is the few that do go to your website to find out more that could end up joining your FM team.

In the email I would personally say "Just a quick note to let you know that FM Group, one of Europe's fastest growing MLM companies is now in the UK (or whichever country you are emailing the person in). We're looking for distributors and leaders in all areas. FM Group's products are lower priced than people normally pay in the shops for other brands, yet I believe far better quality, which means that our customers keep coming back for more. Our Starter Kit is also reasonably priced at £24.50. Many people in other networks are now joining FM Group as a second business. If you would like a free info pack please let me know. My website is ......................................"

Social Networking

There are a growing number of social networking sites, like Facebook, MySpace etc which provide you with an opportunity to make contact with people you know, have known from the past or find on the site. In your status / profile on the sites make sure you mention about your FM business with a link to your FM website if you have one, and regular mention in any news item type options on the social network about your FM successes and that you are looking for more people to join you in the business.

Newspaper Advertising

Whilst I've found it to be true that newspaper advertising does not produce the sort of responce it did years ago, it can still work in some areas very well but it can also produce nothing sometimes, and you need to be prepared for both!

The best newspapers to use vary in each area but I have found that often it is the free papers that come through the door that prove most successful, or sometimes the free ad papers. A good rule is to look at who else is advertising, if there are a number of direct sales adverts (like Kleeneze or Herbalife) in there then the paper does probably produce results.

If you have an email address or website make sure you include it in your advert, I have found over half of my enquiries now come via email as opposed to phone, hardly any come by post so your postal address is not worth including in the advert. A landline phone number rather than mobile is always better, people do not like phoning mobiles and it can appear like a dodgy advert.

Ideally you should make sure you are near the phone ready to deal with the enquiries. If this is not possible make sure there is either an answerphone on or someone suitable who can take a message for you. The last thing you want is to pay for an advert, have loads or calls and miss them all!

Advert Wording

Whether you are placing a small display or classified advert wording is normally limited so concentrating on basics is best, e.g:

Mums and Dads At Home. Earn £........ to £........... per week. (enter the amounts that suit the area). It's New, It's Simple, You Will Love it! Free Info. your tel no and email address or website

Shop Windows

I am not a huge fan of local shop window ads as they are normally not as effective as local papers, but can be cheaper way to begin.

these examples have produced some responce:

Making Local Contacts

One way to get started, in both retailing and sponsoring, particularly if you are new to the area, is to contact local organisations (charities, women's groups, churches etc) and say that you wish to help them raise money by you introducing FM Group products to their supporters and donating a percentage of sales made.

Anyone who delivers things in your area is a possible local recruit.

Dealing With Enquiries

You have received an enquiry or been past a lead.

Find out where the interest came from, what do they know about FM Group already, how they intend to promote the products / business, if they have any previous experience and of course their name, address, tel no and email address.

If they are local you should arrange to see them straightaway – if you need help with this please speak to your Sponsor.

If the enquiry is not local to you send them an Info Pack.

For an alternative approach see How To Recruit Someone Into FM in Less Than 10 Minutes

Following Up

If you have not heard anything three days after the pack has been sent out, you need to ring the prospect to make sure they received it ok and answer any questions they may have.

This is the most important part of the whole process and failing to follow up enquiries is the main reason for slow growth.

Follow Up Emails

A number of our team have been successful using these emails to follow up where they are unable to get hold of someone on the phone:

Email 1  - to be used for a direct email enquiry (not from replica site)

Email 2  - first follow up

Email 3  - second follow up

Always, always follow up.

Some people will say no to the business, others will want longer to think about it (unfortunately that normally means no as well, still worth a call in a few weeks to check), it doesn’t matter. What you are looking for is bright, positive, enthusiastic people to join your team, it is a sorting process.
